Program Overview
The goal of the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program is to provide students with the greater breadth and depth of accounting and business knowledge needed to pursue a career as a professional accountant in public practice, industry,or non-profit organizations. In addition, the program is designed to provide students possessing an undergraduate degree in accounting with the additional hours needed to apply for and take the CPA exam.
The MAcc program at Purdue University Northwest consists of 30 credit hours. In order not to interfere with your regular and professional activities, classes are offered during the week, Monday to Thursday, from 6:30 to 9:20 pm. Courses are 16 weeks in length and the entire program can be completed in one year.
1. With an Accounting Degree
Individuals holding an undergraduate degree in accounting are required to complete thirty (30) semester hours of course work. Students must complete 21 hours of required credits and 9 hours of elective credits.
There are three different paths a student can choose from when completing their degree:
- MAcc with general electives
- MAcc with a concentration in Taxation
- MAcc with a concentration in Forensic Accounting Data Analysis. Students can pursue up to two concentrations. Students can follow whichever plan of study most closely aligns with their future career plans and interests.
