The Master in Economic Policy Siegen (MEPS) program is designed to prepare students for the challenges which an increasingly globalizing economy imposes on businesses, economic policy, and society. Therefore students receive a profound training in economic theory and econometric techniques and will be enabled to independently analyze questions of practical and political relevance empirically.
The master program has a strong international focus and is therefore taught entirely in English. It is a four-semester program beginning in October. The academic faculty of the Department of Economics at the University of Siegen is not only very active and well-established in the national and international academic community, but is also highly committed and motivated to teach its students up-to-date economic knowledge in an accessible fashion.
The MEPS program consists of a small share of compulsory courses amounting to 30 credit points which are concerned with the acquisition of fundamental econometric theories and techniques. Apart from the master thesis (15 credits), there is a vast offer of elective courses to gain the remaining 75 credit points. Thus, MEPS students have the opportunity to design their study program in a way that it suits their interests and goals. Among others, students can specialize in various fields of economics, prepare a more scientific oriented career by choosing research modules, deepen their knowledge in courses which are more applied in nature or treat current topics of business and economics.
Career prospects:
The MEPS program prepares students either for a successful professional career and/or an academic career in high-level economic research. It conveys a wide range of knowledge that opens up various job opportunities. Given the wide range of elective courses offered, graduates of the MEPS program have excellent job prospects in:
