QS Quacquarelli Symonds, an analyst of global higher education has released the QS World University Ranking 2023 report on 08th of June. It is the world’s most referred and most covered source of comparative information about university performance of the world. QS has designed its rankings which evaluate the performance of the university according to what it believes to be the main purpose of it. They are teaching, nurturing, research, employability, and internationalization. Here are the highlights of the QS World University Ranking 2023.
Highlights of the QS World University Ranking 2023 report
The QS World University Rankings 2023 features the top 1,422 universities of the world. These universities are from 80 different locations around the world.
- QS studied a total of 2,462 institutions and ranked 1,422 institutions in the world. This is their largest pool to date
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology has maintained its first position being the world’s best university for an unbroken decade.
- The United States of America is home to the most number of Top ranking universities with a total of 202 universities.
- The University of Oxford declined from 2nd to 4th position while the University of Cambridge has climbed up from 3rd in the 2021 edition to the 2nd in the 2022 edition.
- Stanford University and Harvard University have stuck to the previous year’s position which is 3rd and 5th rank.
- The top 4 universities in Europe are from the UK, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Imperial College London, and UCL.
- The top 3 universities in Asia are the National University of Singapore (NUS) from Singapore, Peking University, and Tsinghua University in China. Only these 4 Asian universities are in the global top 20 which includes Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) at 4th position in Asia
- The top 3 universities in Canada are McGill University at 31st, the University of Toronto at34th and the University of British Columbia at 47th position.
- 41 Indian universities got positions in the top universities of the world, with only 27 in the top 1000 and 3 in the top 200.
