Psychology is the study of people, their behaviours, thoughts, feelings and motivations, which in turns promotes a greater appreciation of the human mind in a variety of contexts. Students who complete psychology degrees are well equipped for a career in almost any profession because studying psychology leads to the acquisition of transferable abilities such as communication skills, numeracy, teamwork, critical thinking, computing and independent learning.

Learning Outcomes

The course aims to:

  1. Equip students with an understanding of the multiple perspectives in Psychology, including a scientific understanding of the mind, brain and behaviour.
  2. Engage learners in the analysis of contemporary issues in different fields in Psychology and encourage them to learn and apply knowledge from current research.
  3. Develop knowledge and abilities in transferable areas, such as independent critical, creative and strategic thinking, confident decision-making and analytical skills, and communication skills.
  4. Provide students with an opportunity to learn in a stimulating and engaging environment, to promote employability, reflectiveness and self-awareness, through academic experience and a problem-solving approach.
  5. Prepare students to be successful learners, confident individuals and responsible global citizens, and therefore ready for a career in Psychology and other associated professions.
  6. Equip students with the knowledge and tools to navigate uncertainty and complexity in the real world, while taking into account digital constraints and ethical commitments towards our society.
  7. Prepare students for higher levels of academic study.
  8. Support students’ personal and professional journey through supervision and activities that allow them to put into practice the knowledge acquired throughout the programme.
