  • Masters in Software Engineering

  • The software engineering master's program at the University of Stuttgart is purely software-oriented without focusing too much on individual areas of application. Individual specialization is achieved through the wide range of specializations. These cover the entire research spectrum of the department and thus enable a career entry, both in industry and in research. Another special feature of software technology in Stuttgart is the very practice-oriented training, which prepares the graduates directly and comprehensively for a career in software development and processing.

  • Admission to the master’s program in software technology requires a bachelor’s degree with good or very good success in software technology or a related course. In particular, project experience is expected that corresponds to the study project of our bachelor's degree. This can also have been acquired through internships or work in industry.

    Admission with conditions can be granted for applicants from related bachelor’s degree programs. These requirements include basic or core modules from the software engineering bachelor's degree program with between 6 and a maximum of 30 credit points. You will be informed of any additional requirements upon admission to the degree program.

  • The areas in which the graduates of the software technology master’s program can be employed include senior positions in all software-technical professional fields, e.g. in the data processing industry, in industrial, commercial and administrative applications of data processing systems and in research. The need for highly qualified workers has increased significantly due to the continuous technologicalization of all areas of society and will continue to exist in the future, as society's innovative performance is determined by the use of new technologies and systems.
