Chemistry, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
Chemistry is a science that aims to provide explanations for phenomena that can be experienced macroscopically at the molecular level. Many answers to material science, pharmaceutical, and biological questions can only be understood if detailed information about the microscopic structure and dynamics is available. In the “Chemistry” bachelor's degree at the University of Bayreuth, students, therefore, receive a broad and well-founded introduction to the main areas of chemistry.
Good mix of theoretical basics and practical laboratory work
The course conveys the safe and problem-solving-oriented handling of the internationally recognized canon of basic chemical knowledge. The students learn modern methods as well as practical chemical laboratory work and are trained in solving preparative and analytical problems. This includes the critical assessment of the toxicological effects of chemicals - also against the background of the case law relevant to chemical laboratory work.
