Program Description

The Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Foundations provides the foundational content in Business Administration.  It is intended for students who have not completed the undergraduate qualifying courses in Business Administration.  It is the foundation for students to ladder into the Levene MBA with Specializations program.

MBA 710 Foundations of Strategic Marketing (3)

The course objective is to assist the student in developing skills in the creative and systematic use of marketing concepts and strategies in the design and evaluation of strategic plans at all levels of the organization. The strategic role of marketing within an organization and its integration with other functional units will be studied. Students are expected to develop a working knowledge of a family of strategic marketing planning processes, concepts, methods, and strategies.

MBA 750 Foundations of Strategic Human Resource Management (3)

This course examines human resource functions from a strategic, institutional and trans-national perspective. The course introduces important differences in HR practices around the globe and helps students develop an understanding of how historic, cultural and economic differences affect HR practices. The topics include human resource planning, recruitment and selection, performance measurement and assessment, training and development, and the design of reward systems.

MBA 760 Foundations of Global Organizational Behaviour (3)

The course examines universal and cross-cultural issues in managing people, work groups and organizations. Concepts emphasized include: employee characteristics, e.g., skills, personality, perception and decision making, and motivation; interpersonal and group processes, including leadership, communication and negotiation; and organizational issues and processes, including organizational culture, structure, systems, and change.

MBA 780 Foundations of Accounting for Managers (3)

The course is designed to facilitate the understanding of accounting information with an emphasis on making decisions. The course introduces the recognition and measurement of accounting events, the preparation and analysis of financial statements, and the use of Canadian and international financial statements and standards. Students will be provided an opportunity to enhance their communication, teamwork and decision making skills.
