A France residence permit is a document that permits or allows the holder of it to stay in France and it is compulsory for every foreigner that comes to France with the purpose of staying for more than three months. Without a French residence permit, one will not only be considered as a legal resident in France and are also unable to get access to many state services and aids.

The France residence permit card is for the students who are pursuing their Professional License, Specialized master or a Masters in France. The students can apply for the residence permit before their study permit or the resident permit in France expires. Students who have pursued a course in France which is equivalent to a Masters can also apply for the Carte de Séjour (French Residence Permit). A student who has previously studied for a Masters course in France can also apply for the French Residence Permit within four years of the completion of the program.

The Application for French Residence Permit can be obtained from the prefecture (district) you are willing to reside once the studies in France will be over. Along with the application, there are some supporting documents that need to be submitted.
France Residence Permit Requirements
You will have to apply within France when it comes to a French residence permit differently from applying for a French visa from your country of residence. If your France long-stay visa is marked with the words “carte de séjour à solliciter” then you need to apply for France residence permit within two months of your arrival in France at the local authorities. Whereas, if your France visa is marked with the words “CESENA R.311-3”, then you will have to contact the French Office for Immigration and Integration closest to your place of residence, as soon as you arrive in France for your residence permit there. 
For the application of France Residence Permit, you should be ready with the following documents : 

  • Your valid passport with the long-stay student visa France stamped on it.
  • A copy of the main pages of your passport, as well as the pages with stamps.
  • Two photographs according to the ICAO standards.
  • Medical Insurance.
  • Birth Certificate.
  • You need to submit a certificate of marriage and birth certificates of your children if you are married or have children
  • Proof of residence, which can be a rent receipt, electricity bill, statement of domicile etc.
  • Proof of income:

if you are employed then work contract and the latest payment slips.

if you are self-employed then proof on their status.

  • Translations of every document that is not in French.

 
The validity of France residence permit
The duration of the permit will depend on your study status or employment status and family situation. Generally, residence permits are one-year renewable, but there are also three-year compétences et talents (skills and talents) permits and permanent residence permits for up to 10 years. The Carte de Séjour or French Residence Permit card is valid for only one year. To continue staying back in France, students have to find a job or have a business in the field of their study before the permit expires.

  • If the candidate’s monthly gross income is 2,281.82€, then there is no limit to working hours with French Residence Permit. Below that, work permit in France is 964 working hours a year.
  • With the old APS visa, the limitation on working hours were 964 working hours a year, with French Residence Permit or Carte de Séjour, the student can work full time, without any restriction in the working hours.
  • Students who have completed Masters in France can apply for the Carte de Séjour even from their home country if the application is done within four years of the graduation.

Long Stay Student Visa France & Carte de Séjour
The Long Stay visa in France is for the students willing to enrol for the programs longer than three months. If a student is enrolling for a Masters in France or any equivalent degree, then at the end of the program, students can apply for the French Residence Permit Card. The France Student Visa also works as a residence permit until the study program. With the new French Residence Permit, the students are allowed to stay back in France for up to one year, looking for a job in France.
France work permit for Indian    
An Indian student, upon completing the studies in France, must as per the immigration rules of the country, leave France. However, he or she can apply for a residence permit for France if he or she has paid employment. This is applicable for both bachelor and master’s program and students would have to apply for a work permit.
